STARS Standard
Quality measures for legal clinics will consist of criteria formalizing the teaching methods and creating performance indicators in the field of legal clinical teaching.
The drafting of quality standards on European clinical education is a key point of the project as these standards do not exist at the European level (they formalized in the US but the American system deeply needs to be adapted to the European context as the US legal system hugely differs from those of European continental countries and since the educational context is also completely different on the two continents). European standardization of the process is therefore becoming a necessity. At this stage of the project, a first proposal is ready. This proposal was drafted by the Olomouc team which has been working on the standards since the beginning of the project. Several discussions took place with regard to the content of the draft in the frame of the STARS network but also with the support of other organisations.
A first proposal was orally presented during the General meeting of the project partners which was held on the 2nd of July in Brescia. The discussion was continued at the annual ENCLE conference that took place in Turin (20th to 21st of September 2018 which was attended by most of project partners) and in an ENCLE workshop held on the 24th of January 2019 at the University of Valencia, where the STARS proposal was presented and discussed.
